Mungo’s Hi Fi are the UK’s number one reggae sound system, a world-class independent dub reggae and dubstep production unit, and record label owners.

Since humble beginnings way back in the distant days of 2000, Mungo’s Hi-Fi have grown to become the UK’s No1 reggae sound system. They play with the traditional roots of danchall, dub and reggae bringing them bang up to date in their own imitable style.  The Hi-Fi have played over 1000 shows to date taking their, sights and subs all over Europe, imprinting dance floors wherever they land.
A bonafide Scottish institution, Mungos’ weekly ‘Dub N Grub’ nights and their monthly residency at the Glasgow School of Art have established them as some of the most unique and universally popular events in the country. These infamous club sessions and insatiable studio endeavours have seen them host and toast esteemed collaborators such as Jah Shaka, Sister Nancy, Ranking Joe, Tippa Irie, Top Cat and Warrior Queen. With a reputation and profile soaring, they continue to release some of the finest modern roots music around on very own Scotch Bonnet label. SWAP kommt aus dem Englischen bedeutet soviel wie Austausch und wie der Name schon sagt steht genau dieser auf musikalischer Ebene im Vordergrund. 

Ziel ist die Schaffung einer neuen Plattform für ein ambitioniertes und kreatives Kollektiv das in den letzten Jahren in Wien entstanden ist. Es besteht aus ca. 25 Musikern und Produzenten. Legacy, das englische Wort für „Erbe“, kommt hier ins Spiel: Unzählige Zusammenarbeiten, Konzerte, CD-Produktionen, Tourneen und Sessions haben diesen Kreis an Musikern geformt und ihm eine außergewöhnliche Energie verliehen. 

Die Gründer des Projekts sind Shayan Fathi, Matthias Löscher, Fabian Rucker und Isabella Schrammel, haben jeder für sich bereits nationale und internationalen Kollaborationen und Erfolge vorzuweisen. Für die aktiven Musiker bzw. Musikbusiness- Erfahrenen Personen, die alle die gleiche Passion haben, lag nichts näher als sich zusammen zu schliessen um mit geballter Kraft zu agieren. 

”Unser Wunsch ist die Verbreitung der qualitativ hochwertigen Musik des Kollektivs. Wien ist die Homebase, der Fokus richtet sich jedoch besonders auf das Networking am internationalen Markt.“

ABOUT DUSTY:

Der Labelgründer von Jazz & Milk zählt zu den gefragtesten Freestyle-DJs im Münchener Raum. Neben seiner Partyreihe “Jazz & Milk Breaks” im Zerwirk (mit internationalen Gästen wie Mr Scruff, Nickodemus, Zero dB, Diesler, The Hi-Fly Orchestra, Romanowski…) und seinen Produktionen, betreibt er das Jazz & Milk Label seit über drei Jahren. Seit dessen Gründung kann er neben Veröffentlichungen von Artists wie Free The Robots, Mr Chop, Romanowski oder Rube, auf vier eigene 12 inches, diverse Remixes, sowie sein frisches Debüt-Album „Keep It Raw“ zurückblicken.

Als DJ ist er nicht nur in München bekannt und gefragt. Er machte sich auch international, mit Auftritten bei „Turntables on The Hudson“ in New York, „Roskilde Festival“ in Kopenhagen oder in Clubs von London bis Barcelona einen Namen.
